Most JEE Advanced 2021 candidates appearing for the upcoming exam have only one goal in their minds: grab an engineering seat in one of the premier Indian Institute of Technology’s (IITs) campuses.

Aspirants can think of the JEE Advanced 2021 as the final step to enter some of India’s most prominent engineering institutes. Indeed, it’s going to be the final test of the countless night studies without sleep, umpteen classes and doubt-solving sessions, and hours and hours of mock papers and question-solving.

Knowing the ins and outs of the exam before the finale is a must for each candidate. So, to make it easier for them, we have curated this post that will take them through every detail that candidates should know about the JEE Advanced 2021 paper.

What is the JEE Advanced Exam?

Conducted by the seven Zonal Coordinating IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board 2021, the JEE Advanced exam is taken by candidates aspiring to take admissions into a Bachelor’s, Integrated Masters, and Dual Degree engineering programmes offered by IITs.

JEE Advanced is also one of the toughest exams in India. The recent addition of new IITs and a steep increase in the number of seats in the institutes have slightly eased the competition. However, getting into the most prominent IITs such as IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Kanpur, among others, remains a tough nut to crack.

Getting into the IITs

The performance in the exam decided the fate of 250,000 candidates aspiring to get admissions into IITs and some of the other best engineering colleges in the country that intake students based on JEE Advanced exam.

  • 5% of seats in each OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST categories are reserved for Persons with Disability (PwD).
  • For defence service candidates, two seats are available in each IIT.
  • IITs can offer extra seats to foreign national candidates. However, such seats are capped at 10% of the total number of seats in every course.
  • For female candidates, individual IITs will have to ensure that every institute has a minimum of 20% female enrolment in undergraduate programmes. Respective institutes add the extra seats.
