JEE Advanced 2021 Counselling Dates Announced by JoSAA! Check it Now!

From 16 October, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will begin accepting registrations for the counselling process for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other government-funded institutions. Undergraduate admissions to 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 33 Other-Government-Funded Technical Institutes will be conducted using a single platform, JoSAA. For admission to undergraduate courses, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has opened the opportunity for online registration and option filling.

The entire counselling process would be conducted in six rounds and each round will comprise several stages including registration, choice filling, choice locking, seat allotment, freeze/float allotted seat, payment of seat confirmation fee and reporting to the allotted college. The Schedule for the counselling rounds has been uploaded on josaa.nic.in

All candidates must register at josaa.nic.in before the deadline or they will be unable to participate in the future round of counselling. Further rounds of counselling would not require separate registration.

Registration Process for JoSAA IIT Counselling 2021

The registration process for the JoSAA has started on 16th October 2021 and the link for registration will remain active till 25th October 2021. The Candidate is required to visit the official site of JoSAA at josaa.nic.in and complete the registration process. The steps which need to be followed by a candidate for registration are as follows:

Important Instructions by JoSAA for Registration

  • If you have registered in JEE(Main) 2021 then use JEE(Main) 2021 Application No.
  • Candidates who have not registered in JEE(Main) 2021 and applied for JEE(Advanced) 2021 then use JEE(Main) 2020 Application No.
  • If you have registered for JEE(Advanced) 2021 then use JEE(Advanced) 2021 password. Otherwise use JEE(Main) 2021 password.
  • Confidentiality of Password is solely the responsibility of the candidate and all care must be taken to protect the password.
  • Candidates must take a printout of the final locked choices for submission during reporting.
  • For security reasons, after finishing your work, kindly click the LOGOUT button and close all the windows related to your session.
  • Candidates are advised to keep changing the Password at frequent intervals.
  • Never share your password and do not respond to any mail which asks you for your Login-ID/Password. NIC does not request for such information by email.

There will be six rounds to the counselling procedure. Registration, choice filling, choice locking, and seat assignment will all be part of each round. Following that, the fee payment and document verification procedures will take place.

JoSAA Allotment Results

After the first round of the counselling procedure is completed, JoSAA will release the allotment results. The results are expected to be out on October 27th, after which candidates must freeze or float the seat that has been assigned to them.

Candidates can exercise choice filling options based on their score and rank in JEE Main or JEE Advanced after completing the JOSAA counselling registration. JoSAA will issue the seat allotment list once the applicants have completed their submissions.

Following that, the candidate must either freeze or float their assigned place. Those who wish to take an allotted seat must pay a seat confirmation fee and report to the particular college with their provisional admission letter and other certifications in order to complete the admission procedure. Only up to round 6 can candidates float their given seats and not after this, as this is the final phase for admissions to IITs and NITs.

Candidates are advised to install “Sandes” mobile app on your smartphone with your registered mobile number to get all counselling related OTP, messages and letters.

A total of 16232 seats are available across all programs in all IIT’s. About 9429 seats are reserved for Computer Science Engineering in IITs for 2021. Withdrawal of Alloted Seats

According to JoSAA, candidates whose seat has been confirmed by JoSAA can withdraw from the seat allocation process starting from the second round and up to the fifth round of seat allocation, before the final round of seat allocation.

Documents Required for JoSAA Counselling 2021

To avoid the last-minute hurdles, it is necessary that a candidate make sure that all the required documents are arranged with him/her. The following is a list of documents that candidates should have on hand before registering for JOSAA 2021 counselling:

  • Three Passport size photograph (Similar to the photo used in JEE Main registration)
  • Scanned signature copy
  • Marksheet of class XII
  • Photo identity proof- Aadhar, etc.
  • Category/Caste certificate for the applicable candidates
  • Admit card of JEE Main
  • Score card of JEE Main
  • JEE Advance Admit card and Result Card
  • Seat allotment letter (only required during the counselling process)

The Candidate must be qualified in JEE Advanced 2021 Entrance Exam. Counselling process by JoSAA caters to the following institutes:

JoSAA 2021 Counselling Registration fees

There is no application fee for JoSAA 2021 registration and choice filling. However, a candidate is required to pay the seat acceptance fees in case he/she wants to freeze and confirm the seat for the admission process. The seat acceptance fees are as follows:

  • General/OBC -35000-/-
  • SC/ST/PH- 15000-/-

The fees can be paid through Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking.

Question: What is JoSAA?

Answer: Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is constituted by MHRD to conduct a common counselling procedure for the allocation of seats on the basis of JEE Main and JEE Advanced ranks. The seats allocated through JoSAA 2021 will be at IITs, NITs, IITs and other GFTIs.

Question: I have qualified in JEE Advanced 2021/JEE Main 202. Is it mandatory to register in JoSAA to get a seat in IITs, NITs, IIITs and Other-GFTIs?

Answer: Yes. JoSAA 2021 registration and choice filling process is mandatory for any qualified candidate interested in joining any of the IITs, NITs, IIITs and Other-GFTI

Question: Is there any free seat in IITs?

Answer: There is no free seat in IITs. However, candidates can avail scholarships after their admission to save fees.

Question: What will happen if there are multiple candidates with the same rank seeking admission to the same academic programme?

Answer: All the candidates will be given equal preference, in such a case. If required, supernumerary seats will be created.
