The Joint Entrance Exam – Advanced, formerly known as the JEE Advanced for Indian Institutes of Technology, is an annual academic examination given in India. Under the leadership of the Joint Admission Board, it is organised by one of the seven “old” IITs.

The Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, was founded in 1919 as the Banaras Engineering College and renamed the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University in 1968. In 2012, it was recognised as an Indian Institute of Technology.

Varanasi’s IIT (BHU) contains 16 departments, three inter-disciplinary schools, and one Humanities and Social Sciences Section. Although it is located on the Banaras Hindu University campus, it is not affiliated with it.
